Most influencer databases are built from the accounts everyone already knows. Ours is built the other way round: 15.2 million of the TikTok creators we index have between 1,000 and 50,000 followers. Here is how to find micro-influencers among them in five filters, with real counts at every step.
A micro-influencer is a creator with roughly 10,000 to 50,000 followers. Below that, 1,000 to 10,000, is nano. The boundaries are a convention rather than a standard, and some platforms stretch micro up to 100,000, so ask for the follower number rather than trusting the label on a media kit.
In practice most brands searching for "micro-influencers" want both bands: creators small enough to answer their own email and price a post sensibly, large enough to move some product. This page treats 1,000 to 50,000 as the working range and shows how to split it when you need to.
Whether smaller creators really engage better is a separate question, and we measured it separately. Our influencer tiers breakdown has median engagement rate for every tier across 1,500 creators, with a result that does not match the usual claim.
At least 15 million, and they are about 1 in 100 TikTok users. TikTok's ads reached 1.59 billion people in January 2025 (DataReportal, from TikTok's own ad tools). Our index alone holds 16.6 million accounts with 1,000 or more followers, so at least 1 in 96 TikTok users has passed 1,000 followers, and 92% of those are nano or micro (77.3% nano, 14.7% micro).
Applied to TikTok's 1.59 billion, that is at least 15.3 million nano and micro creators, about 1% of the people on the platform. It is a floor, not a census: TikTok does not publish how many creators it has, and our index only counts accounts we have crawled, so the real number is higher. The table below is our own count on 8 September 2026.
| Tier | Followers | Creators in our index | Share of our index |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nano | 1,000 to 10,000 | 12,820,941 | 77.3% |
| Micro | 10,000 to 50,000 | 2,434,184 | 14.7% |
| Mid-tier | 50,000 to 250,000 | 997,061 | 6.0% |
| Macro | 250,000 to 1,000,000 | 269,313 | 1.6% |
| Mega | 1,000,000+ | 71,239 | 0.4% |

That shape is the whole argument for searching an index rather than browsing. In our index, nano creators outnumber mega creators by roughly 180 to 1. If you build a shortlist by scrolling a niche on the app, the algorithm shows you its winners, and you end up competing with every other brand for the same few hundred accounts.
Search by niche, cap the follower count at 50,000, then narrow by country, engagement and contact data. Each step below shows how many creators were left in a real search for "skincare", run on 14 October 2026.
Type the niche as a keyword or hashtag, or describe the creator in plain words ("skincare creators in the US who review drugstore products") and let the search turn it into filters. Keywords match bios, hashtags and captions, so run two or three variants: "skincare", "skintok" and "acne" find overlapping but different people.
Do this before touching follower count. At the micro level, the niche is what makes a creator worth booking; the size only decides the price.

This is the step that makes it a micro-influencer search. Use 10,000 to 50,000 for micro only, 1,000 to 10,000 for nano only, or the whole 1,000 to 50,000 band if you are seeding product at volume and do not mind which.
Set a ceiling as well as a floor. Without one, a relevance-ranked search drifts toward the biggest accounts in the niche, which are exactly the ones you were trying to avoid.
Add the markets you can ship to. In the skincare example this cut 110,150 creators to 35,908 in the United States.
One honest catch: the country filter removes creators we hold no country for, not only creators known to be elsewhere. The same search excluded another 15,954 skincare creators who carry no country on file. If a market comes back thin, search without the country filter and read location from bios.

A minimum engagement rate is the fastest quality cut at this size. In the example, a 5% floor halved the US pool from 35,908 to 16,206.
Pick the floor from tier norms, not from a round number. Our tiers article measured median engagement rate per tier across 1,500 creators, and the gaps between tiers are smaller than the gaps inside them. Use those medians as your baseline rather than a generic "good engagement" figure.

Filter for creators with a contact email on file. In the example that left 6,563 US skincare creators with 1,000 to 50,000 followers and an engagement rate of 5% or more. That is a pool, not a shortlist: read bios, drop shops and brand accounts, and add the keepers to a list.
From there a list exports to CSV for whatever you send outreach from, or shares as a link that needs no login for the person signing it off.

Of 110,150 skincare creators with 1,000 to 50,000 followers, 6,563 were left after country, engagement and contact filters. Here is the full narrowing:
| Filters applied | Creators left |
|---|---|
| Keyword "skincare", 1,000 to 50,000 followers, any country | 110,150 |
| Plus country: United States | 35,908 |
| Plus engagement rate of 5% or more | 16,206 |
| Plus a contact email on file | 6,563 |
Source: Tokfluence index, keyword "skincare", 14 October 2026. For comparison, the same keyword in the US above 250,000 followers returned 1,245 creators.
Two things this table does not tell you. The counts are keyword matches, so shops, brand accounts and creators who used the word once are in there; the very first result in our US search was a skincare brand's own account. And "email on file" means an address is listed, not that it has been checked. Read the bios before anything goes out.
It should hold a lot of small creators and let you filter them on more than size. Five things decide whether a tool works for micro-influencer search, and most feature lists bury them:
| What to check | Why it matters at this size | Tokfluence |
|---|---|---|
| Index weighted toward small creators | A database built by crawling famous accounts first has few micro-influencers to show you, however good the filters. | 92% of our index is nano or micro |
| Follower floor and ceiling | Without a ceiling, relevance search drifts to the biggest names in the niche. | Min and max followers |
| Engagement rate filter | At this size, engagement varies more inside a tier than between tiers. You need to filter on it directly. | Minimum engagement rate, sortable |
| Contact data | Micro creators rarely have managers. If the tool cannot show an email, you are back to DMs. | Contact filter, email on profile |
| How it meters | Micro campaigns mean opening hundreds of profiles. A monthly cap on profile views runs out fast. | Unlimited profile views on Pro |
Tokfluence plan details read from our pricing page in October 2026: the free plan needs no card, and Pro is $99 a month with 10,000 credits (one credit is one profile), 20,000 searches a month and unlimited profile views. Agency is $199 for 20,000 credits and unlimited searches. And if you would rather not run the searches yourself, the Discovery Service ($499 a month) has our team run them and filter the lists by hand.
If you are comparing tools rather than choosing one, our roundup of influencer marketing platforms lists eight with real prices and the monthly caps that decide them.
Check the audience before you brief anyone, then measure what the posts delivered. The broader TikTok influencer search page covers every filter in more detail, and campaign tracking reports views, engagement and cost per view once the posts are live. If this is your first campaign, the first influencer campaign guide walks through budget, brief and timing. To see what a single creator record holds, and how many micro creators list an email, read the influencer database breakdown.
The tier counts are total matches per follower band in our TikTok creator index on 8 September 2026, the same measurement behind our tiers article. They count creators with at least 1,000 followers; accounts below that are not included in any figure on this page.
The skincare figures are total match counts from our search on 14 October 2026, adding one filter at a time. Match counts are not filtered for brand accounts or relevance, and the country filter removes creators with no country on file, so read every number here as the size of a pool, not a list of people ready to book.
